« As with my paintings, I am sometimes ethereal, otherworldly, sensual and layered. I explore what it is to be human and female in this world. »
Fiona Maclean is a New Zealander who looks to explore themes such as sensuality, sexuality and what it means to be a female in the world. Watercolour, acrylics and pencil are used to layer her evocative pieces in a way that can confuse the viewers eye. This quirky style has led her work to be described as ethereal yet bold while also being hauntingly beautiful.
