« I love discovering more about both my mediums and myself as I work with them. Curiosity has always been my strongest trait and I’m constantly finding new ways of creating and pushing my media to find more ways of working with it, discovering new worlds every time. »
American artist Hazel Griffith grew up in a family of artists and has always been captivated by the concept of the unknown, doorways parallel worlds. This theme of seeking the other, altered states is present throughout her works. Both natural and imaginary landscapes are evocatively expressed on her canvases, transporting the viewer into a fantastical setting which is both serene and exhilarating.
Utilising the versatile medium of encaustic wax Hazel's artworks intricately capture the fractural patterns which run through organic matter, emotional states and the physics inherent in the process of creation.
