Iryna Benderovska

I am a painter and conceptual visual artist, originally from Odesa, Ukraine. I studied at the Art Lyceum in Odesa and continued my academic training at the University of the Arts in Poznań, Poland. My practice is rooted in both classical and contemporary traditions, and it unfolds at the intersection of memory, fantasy, and the everyday.

In my work, I create poetic dreamscapes inhabited by animals, musical instruments, sculptures, and theatrical settings. I often use vivid color, layered imagery, and symbolic detail to turn ordinary elements into visual metaphors. Influenced by neo-expressionism, naive art, and metaphysical realism, I explore the emotional resonance of time, space, and the quiet magic hidden in daily life.

I see painting as a form of storytelling — a way to preserve the fleeting, reveal the surreal, and invite the viewer into an intimate, imaginative world where flamingos share wine, cats contemplate statues, and sunlight becomes a character of its own.
