Born in Damascus in 1949, Issmat Abdulkader is one of the last great representatives of Syrian modernism.
of his generation. Deeply influenced by masters like his teacher Fateh Moudarress and his contemporary.
Louay Kayali, the artist who has lived on the Rhine since 1978, has created a fascinating life's work.
made of vibrant colors and profound poetry.
His works are pure, painted poetry. Whether through an elegant charcoal stroke on fine handmade paper, transferred
on wood and glass, or with expressive force on large canvas – his signature style remains.
Unmistakably virtuosic. Sensual forms merge within these luminous, Levantine color worlds.
and powerful symbols for highly emotional narratives about love, passion & unconditional freedom.
With his art, Issmat invites the viewer to pause and absorb these pulsating visual worlds layer by layer.
to explore the layer – and thus experience a truly timeless piece of painted poetry.
