Jay Chung is a Korean artist based in Dallas, whose figurative paintings delve into the intricate interplay between physical realities and interior states of being. In his latest body of work, Chung reimagines the human figure, moving beyond traditional representation to offer an "alternative" perspective—one that captures the conscious and unconscious dimensions of our existence in the world.
On his canvases, emotions take shape as dynamic, dreamlike forms—often blurred, suspended, or grounded in abstract spaces. These compositions evoke the imagined landscapes of our psychological, societal, and imaginative lives, inviting viewers to engage with the complex layers of human experience.
