Joan Snyder

Joan Snyder, an American painter and MacArthur Fellow, redefined abstract expressionism with his visceral "stroke paintings." His artistry involves bold gestural brushwork and a multi-layered application of paint, often incorporating text and symbolic elements to challenge and evolve the abstract narrative. Snyder's canvases pulse with the raw intensity of personal and collective emotion, reflecting a deep and unapologetic exploration of the human experience.
