John Kelly
France
« I vary between having the model unaware of the gaze, to having the model appropriate the gaze and challenge the viewer as to his or her relationship to the model. »
John Kelly is an experienced painter whose works have been exhibited across the US and France since the 1980s. His influences range from Degas to William Bailey, and he seeks to capture the psychological state of his models in each of his paintings. Simple poses are juxtaposed with evocative surroundings; stillness with movement.
