Joy Kloman, an accomplished painter with an MFA from the University of Florida, and BFA from Kansas City Art Institute, works in figurative painting, grounded in an academic and international background. She blends gestural brushwork with layered references to vintage photography, pairing black-and-white with vibrant fluorescent underpainting, and often envelops her figures in botanical motifs and antique patterns. Her art investigates temporality, juxtaposing past and present to evoke feelings of restoration, impermanence, and nostalgia, ultimately conveying a poignant transience and lyrical celebration of life’s fleeting rituals.
