Katja Preil

KATJA PREIL lives and works in the artist city of Leipzig. Even as a child, Katja felt a deep connection to nature. She spent her childhood near Leipzig and on the Baltic coast and learned to live naturally with and in nature. This deep sense of security and familiarity is reflected in her art, finding expression in organic forms and abstract works.

She uses a variety of materials, including acrylics, watercolors, ink, pastels, charcoal, spray paint, varnish, and chalk. Always inspired by her homeland and her second home on the Baltic coast, Katja explores the changing abstract landscapes of the sea, rivers, countries, and islands in her work.
Abstract expression is her direct approach to life’s experiences and impressions.
