Laura Pels Ferra is a Lisbon-trained artist based in Fife, Scotland, working across drawing, painting and installation. Her practice explores relationships between people, materials and the natural world, with a particular interest in pattern, repetition, observation and entanglement.
Working primarily on paper, Laura uses drawing and painting to explore relationships between form, pattern, line and space. Earlier works often draw on personal experience, using repetition and abstraction to explore connection, identity and perception. Her recent practice has developed an increasing ecological focus, exploring landscape, water and the botanical world through close observation and considering the intricate forms and interconnected systems of the natural environment. Across her work, repetition and accumulation allow relationships between materials, place and experience to emerge.
