« My pictures are blended versions of observations and fantasy, which are also thoroughly affected by fortuity and the creative process itself. »
Maren Simon is an abstract German artist whose works have been exhibited nationally.
Some works are reminiscent of strange microorganisms, others resemble botanical wonders, others a sunken, dreamlike landscape: In Maren Simon's works on paper we encounter a nature that seems strangely familiar and at the same time fascinatingly alien. The artist gives space to the unconscious and the mysterious and opens up the greatest possible scope for interpretation for the viewer. The artist draws inspiration from observations, moments and found objects, which she condenses into abstract and at the same time concrete associations in her intuitive works.
What all of the works have in common is that they are created without any digital intervention, but solely through the combination of acrylic paint, ink and special papers, which Simon allows to interact in an iterative drying process.
