Mark Stonestreet

Mark Stonestreet's introduction to sculpture came about as a means to combine his love of drawing with the manipulation of dense materials using power tools. Now working exclusively with stone and marble, Stonestreet is an expert at configuring fluid shapes from these traditionally non-yielding materials. His works are concerned with the arena between line and form, translating drawings in to the 3D realm. This process has been at the core of his work in recent years. With each new work, line is translated onto the surface of the stone. From here, the tools, the stone, and the artist work together to create a form, limited only by the dimensions of the medium; staying true to the integrity of the original line.
