Martina Heyd-Jilg

Martina Heyd-Jilg is an abstract painter with over 30 years of artistic practice. Her works are created intuitively and develop in multifaceted processes in which colors, lines, and spontaneous gestures enter into a vibrant dialogue.

At the heart of her painting lies the interplay between structure and freedom. From movement, tension, and light, pictorial spaces emerge that condense layer by layer, revealing new depths.

She is particularly interested in the moment when energy, rhythm, and lightness unfold within the pictorial space. Series such as her Butterfly works develop organically from this process and represent transformation, inner movement, and constant change.

She works predominantly with acrylic on canvas and develops her works in an open, process-oriented structure, in which each layer reacts to the previous one.
