Martina Heyd-Jilg is an abstract painter whose artistic work is characterized by a long-standing and continuous exploration of color, structure, and movement. Her works emerge intuitively and develop through multifaceted processes in which colors, lines, structures, and spontaneous gestures engage in dialogue with one another.
The focus of her painting is on movement, transformation, and the unfolding of pictorial spaces. She is particularly interested in the moment when forms begin to emerge, energies intensify, and new connections become visible.
Some of her works originate from overpainting older canvases, whose existing traces are transformed into new artistic contexts. This process is also reflected in her Butterfly series, which explores transformation, development, and inner movement.
