« I work adding and subtracting from the surface until the piece has a presence. »
Martyn Baldwin, an award-winning painter based in the United Kingdom, has exhibited nationally and in France as well. Form, dynamics between forms, and presence are all key components in his pieces. Baldwin works from life or photographs and draws on paper usually with charcoal. He looks for key characteristics of the motif, then translates their relations using oil paints on canvas.
