Melissa Ritchie
Australia
« I've always been fascinated by visual realism with an anecdotal twist. »
Melissa Ritchie is an award-winning artist based in Australia whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. Describing herself as a storyteller, her portraits are often a satirical celebration of the sitter, portraying the subject's personality by painting them in a genre that mirrors their true character. However, in Ritchie's still-lifes, she usually depicts a piece of origami alongside everyday objects that pay homage to the nostalgia of childhood.
