Monika Riethmueller graduated 1989 at the Gerriet-Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is collected all over the world.
Fascinated by the contrast of movement versus static forms, her works convey a non-figurative pictorial story, "guiding the eye across the canvas like a choreographed dance".
Riethmueller is based in the south of France where she runs her own studio.
