For American artist Nina Buxenbaum the canvas has always been a way to realise the images in her mind. Her beautiful and luminous artworks are an exploration of her background and the position of African-American women throughout history. Her honest and personal portraits provide an alternative to stereotypes prevalent in contemporary culture. Her subjects are multi-faceted and complex, full of movement and great depth which captivates the attention of the viewer.
A representational painter, Nina utilizes color and texture to create an illusion of form. Conjoined figures which represent differences in race and equality.
Nina has exhibited her prize winning artworks in solo and group exhibitions throughout the USA and participated in numerous artist residencies.
