Oscar Boffy, a painter trained at the École Boulle in Paris and the Jacques Lecoq International School of Mime, primarily uses watercolor and ink on paper or acrylic on canvas. He favors lyrical abstraction and free-flowing gestures. His vibrant and meditative works open a space for introspection and escape, poised between balance and chaos, inviting each viewer to project their own story onto them in a deeply personal resonance.
He advocates a gesture devoid of seduction or flattery—"not seeking the perfect line, but a line free of all intention, reflecting the state of mind at the moment." It's about achieving the right action, delving deep within oneself to touch the essential, without emphasis or melodrama. His intimate interpretation of nature or urban chaos has no particular subject matter.
Over the years, fluidity has become central. "I need to step out of the painting before I've done too much. I need a resonance with my work."
