Philippe Halaburda is a French abstract artist based in Newburgh, NY. His work explores psychogeography and emotional memory through a visual language combining paint, ribbon, wool, and found objects. Influenced by graphic design, Bauhaus, and Constructivism, he creates abstract mental maps—systems of signs, symbols, and textures—translating our emotions regarding urban space. Based in the United States since 2016, he develops a body of work that questions the adaptation, displacement, and memory of places. His solo and group exhibitions have taken place in Paris, New York, Santa Fe, as well as at institutions such as Hudson Valley MOCA, the Garner Arts Center, and the Terrain Biennial. He also offers immersive installations allowing the public to explore his emotional maps in three dimensions. At the intersection of order and chaos, his practice seeks to make the invisible visible.
