Richard Elliott is a British painter presently based in London. He graduated in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art. Raised in an artistic family, it was most notably his grandfather who had a fundamental and heavy influence on his style which now is deeply entrenched within urban areas.

Focal Point of Urban Terrains

Concerned with the lack of attention we pay to the small details of manmade domains of cities, Elliott places emphasis on surfaces such as building walls or bark from trees that resonate with him on an emotive basis. Fascinated with textures, he often uses several layers of paint to share similarities with the thickness of concrete within buildings, giving his work a more realistic aesthetic.

Surpassing the Boundaries of Painting Mediums

Elliott wavers between the mediums of painting and sculpture, where he combines layers and brushes across his canvas. He prides himself on spontaneity which fuels his creativity and continues to stimulate his envisioned finished piece. His painting becomes entwined with the canvas, where highly textured and detailed surfaces increase the physicality of his work.

A Nationally Recognised Painter

Richard Elliott has firmly established himself within the British scene of landscape painting. He has taken part in shows across the UK, including The Alde Valley Spring Festival the Royal Academy Summer Show on multiple occasions, his most recent one being in 2017.
