Sabine Zichnowitz is a freelance artist with over 25 years of experience and trained in painting under Jens Kilian. She specializes in Suminagashi, the traditional Japanese art form of floating ink on water. Through the reduction to black, white, and a few select ink colors, and the use of lightweight washi paper, her works radiate lightness, transparency, and a unique aesthetic. Her art is unobtrusive, creating a haven of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life and conveying profound sensitivity, clarity, and tranquility.
As a provisional highlight of her work, Sabine Zichnowitz published the book 'Suminagashi - The Art of Becoming Still with Moving Images' in 2025. She is currently intensively engaged in creating large-format, high-quality Suminagashi paintings.
