Sylvia Batycka
Germany
Sylvia Batycka is a Berlin-based painter with an MFA from the University of the Arts London, focusing on oil and watercolour painting to investigate the relationship between image, memory, and representation. She uses figurative styles that oscillate between precision and dissolution, constructing hypnotic images from archival and vernacular photographs, garments, and objects. Her deft play with opacity, sharpness, and tonal ambiguity evokes the haunting persistence of female presence and authority, imbuing her art with intimacy, spectral tension, and the powerful transformation of delicate symbols into enduring strength.
