Tom Nelson

Fascinated by calligraphy from an early age, Tom Nelson first expressed his creativity through graffiti.

After several years of practice, he turned to other forms of expression and began working on stretched canvases as well as reclaimed materials in order to preserve a trace of his creations.

Tom Nelson does not aim to reproduce traditional street art on canvas. Over time, he has developed an abstract painting style centered on repetition that gradually fades and deconstructs itself, becoming almost illegible through the gestures of his creative process.

From these accumulations of lines and textures emerges a rhythmic energy. His compositions almost transform into a dance, a moving wave full of life.

Tom Nelson uses the techniques of urban art while drawing inspiration from modern art. His imagination is rooted in the monochromes of Klein, the vigorous drippings of Pollock, and Soulages’ profound exploration of Outrenoir.

When light reflects on Tom Nelson’s paintings, the textured effects come alive and the artwork reveals its mystery and originality.

Very quickly, the artist realized that his unconscious quest was driving him to boldly paint a recurring theme: the Elements.
