« My goal is to combine the symbols of past civilizations with the conceptual and abstract side of calligraphy, bringing the past and the present together in a modern understanding. »
Ufuk Alkan is an artist based in Turkey whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in Sweden, Germany, Russia, and Spain. Fascinated by the symbols of Turkish mythology, he believes in the importance of traditions and religious beliefs as keys to understanding the society in which we live. Alkan's distinctive style fuses calligraphy with symbolism using oils and acrylics on canvas or duralite.
