Ursula Heermann-Jensen was born in Stuttgart, she lives and works since 2008 in Berlin. Her studio is located in Europe's largest listed industrial estate on the Spree in Oberschöneweide, there in the studio house79. In her artistic work with a focus on painting, Ursula Heermann-Jensen seeks to get to the bottom of the things and phenomena that surround her. In her art, she does not orientate herself on the surfaces and the primarily visible, but on the effects that are hidden behind the surface and that allow her to step forward. For the painter Heermann-Jensen these are, above all, complexity and densification in contrast with transparency and filigree structure. Ursula Heermann-Jensen teases what motivates her behind this visible world. The light and above all the luminosity of the colors play an important role in their works of art. The themes of her pictures develop and unfold together with their colorfulness. The subjects are also aspects and manifestations of the basic colors in things, phenomena and abstractions, colourfulness and theme are in an exciting dialogue with each other. For Ursula Heermann-Jensen, art has a content, craftsmanship and aesthetic dimension. In terms of content, she deals with the complexity of what is. In terms of craftsmanship, the techniques she uses support the substantive statement. Beauty may be aesthetically pleasing without it being a pure surface.
