Willem Koot

Willem Koot (1948) in his studio in Almere near Amsterdam, works primarily in stone and bronze. The bronzes are made and finished by a renowned foundry.
His pieces are displayed in many regional exhibitions, local art fairs and his own sculpture garden. After clay miniatures with dreams driving what he sees, he is fascinated by choosing many marble types for the glistening, specific reflection, special fragment potentials. He employs a distinctive abstract language featuring irregular circles, architectural arches, and basket- or wing-like motifs. His sculptures powerfully express themes of struggle, vulnerability, and the search for meaning, inviting viewers to reflection and to tranquil introspection.
