William Hogarth

William Hogarth was an English painter and printmaker from a modest London background, who mastered both painting and engraving. She employed detailed, comic strip-like sequences and rich satirical caricature, blending realism with biting social criticism in a style later dubbed "Hogarthian." Her work pulses with vivid emotion—humor, irony, and uncompromising truth—inviting viewers to read her images as powerful, provocative stories.
