Yumi Nishimura is an artist based in Japan who describes her creative expression as having been shaped by her experiences in information design and video production. It was a catalyst for her to return to the "fundamental materials of essential human art". As such, Nishimura's distinctive compositions are created using her hands, her fingers representing the traces of her life. She fuses hand-weaving, sewing, and painting techniques into each of her pieces.
