About this artwork
The interior of the Duomo of Pisa impressed me both times I was able to see it. It was here, as a young man, that I really understood the meaning of the word "Experience of Space", which I had learned during my studies. 25 years later, it was the light coming into a side chapel that struck me most. I was not concerned with the details of the building, I wanted to paint the effect that the experience had on me.
