About this artwork
In this work done in Indian ink, I embraced expressionism to capture the tumultuous emotions of our times. The fragmented, almost dissolute face evokes confusion and isolation, as the pandemic changed the way we live and communicate. Bold use of contrast reflects our inner struggle, giving your space a dynamic presence that inspires reflection and conversation.

Aali Khalild is a Moroccan painter currently living and working in Rabat. Before deciding to become a full-time artist, Khalild studied management and telecommunications in the United States. His work is deeply impacted by his many travels, often employing exaggerated gesture and a great freedom in the treatment of color. Fascinated by the face and its palette of infinite expressions, Khalild's portraiture seeks to capture our moods and to grasp the elusive individuality of his subject.
