About this artwork
An abstraction of the concept of sleep. The artist loves simple visuals that represent complex ideas and this is his take on sleep.
The outermost area, the lightest, represent our waking state. The darkest patch in the very centre draws the eye and all the visual attention. This section is not black, but a colour called Eigengrau, a deep shade of grey that we actually see in total darkness, as there is a certain level of signal noise that the brain… perceives. This section represents deep sleep.

« Paintings allow the mind to relax and wander, to let go of the mundane and focus on the things that really matter. »
Abdullah Khan is an exciting artist whose work has been exhibited in India. First drawn to painting after being inspired by Cubism's proposal of perceiving the physical, he creates striking pieces that play on movement and memory, in order to represent reality closer to how we perceive it.
