About this artwork
I sketch contansly, looking for that stand out expression, moment in time or composition that encapsulates peace, joy, beauty, positivity or wisdom. These mixed with spontaneity, intuition and conscious decision making demonstrate that opposites can live harmoniously together.
I often meticulously structure my sketches and paintings before randomly marking on them in the moment or this case allowing the watercolours to freely blend.
From absolute… precision with my magnifying glass to random chaos; they pull me closer to the human condition.
Being partially sighted, I cannot see people’s expressions or the beautiful lines of the female form anymore unless I am very close. My art is how I make sense of the abstract world around me and the feelings within. Creation is an extremely personal process that I believe has saved me.When I lost my vision and most of my confidence, art offered a way back to connecting with my natural inner peace and happiness. Abi Jameson's art relates to connectivity and positivity, as well as her way of being closer to the human condition. Since she has lost much of her vision since 2013, art is how she makes sense of the abstract world around her and the feelings within. Although Jameson is continuously inspired by female wisdom, energy, and the natural world, her unique artistic expression originates from her impaired vision. Seeing in lines, patterns, and dots, the foregrounds and backgrounds often merge.
