About this artwork
The glassy, bottle green waters of a millpond are broken by the swimmer. Light shatters and a thousand shades of emerald are marbled together, forming endless and ever changing patterns.
This work is painted on a deep-edge, gallery-wrapped canvas. The painting continues around the edge of the canvas meaning it may be hung unframed.

« Water and its interplay with light generate unusual, distorted and complex patterns, altering the perception of everyday images. »
Abi Whitlock is an emerging British artist whose paintings have featured in exhibitions and prizes across the UK. The principal focus of her work is the human form and how the mind and body are affected when immersed in water. Inspired by trips to the outdoor pools and beaches of Devon, she composes hyperrealist representations of submerged figures, placing impressive emphasis on minute detail.
