About this artwork
My inspiration for this piece was cool blues and complementary oranges. I wanted to use every shade of blue to create a soothing and calming painting. On a hand-stretched canvas, I used several layers of acrylic paint to achieve a rhythm and balance that is pleasing to the eye. The colors that border on one another are carefully chosen and layered to create a slight tension with overall harmony. After the painting was completed I did a general sanding…
over the entire canvas. I sealed the surface with two coats of water-based varnish.
Typically my work is photography based, so painting is a freeing experience and an exercise in creating an immersive color experience.

Adam Collier Noel is an American artist who has exhibited his works in the United States. In his artistic process, he combines varied techniques and materials with photography, creating bold mixed-media collages with abstract elements. Noel is inspired by his archive of found photographs, which portray both universal and intensely personal aspects of the human experience.
