About this artwork
This piece uses layers of acrylic paint and paper collage of vintage nautical maps to achieve a rhythm and balance that is pleasing to the eye. The colors that border on one another are carefully chosen and layered in order to create a slight tension with overall harmony. Adam Collier Noel created texture using plaster and cardboard. He coated the final piece with several layers matte medium and finish it with a matte layer of varnish.

« Much of my work is about optics, ways of seeing and the grand tradition of photography. »
Adam Collier Noel is an American artist who has exhibited his works in the United States. In his artistic process, he combines varied techniques and materials with photography, creating bold mixed-media collages with abstract elements. Noel is inspired by his archive of found photographs, which portray both universal and intensely personal aspects of the human experience. He forms new and engaging narratives by repurposing imagery of the past, transcending time.
