About this artwork
Ad Lib is an explosion of freedom, a pictorial improvisation where bright pink asserts itself as a central, vibrant, and audacious pulse. Around it gravitate colorful, unpredictable, almost musical forms, like notes escaped from a ruleless score. Each hue engages in a spontaneous dialogue with the others, creating a composition that is both instinctive and profoundly alive.
The gesture is free, lyrical, almost dance-like. Nothing is fixed: the… forms seem to be in motion, carried by an inner energy that evokes pure improvisation—that moment when one creates without constraint, guided solely by the impulse of the moment. Ad Lib then becomes a space for breathing, an invitation to feel rather than understand.
This work captures the essence of letting go: a celebration of the present, of color as raw emotion, and of movement as a universal language.
Virginie Huj primarily uses painting, enriched by an unconventional background that blends comics, tattooing, and a deep immersion in nature and spirituality. Her works, imbued with a lyrical, baroque, spiritual abstraction, combine intense colors, masterful brushstrokes, and the recitation of mantras to create rich and vibrant compositions. Through her canvases, she conveys an exploration of the freedom to be and universal love, offering the viewer a powerful experience that touches the heart and invites introspection.
