VERDE is part of the CHROMA series, in which color is explored not only as a surface, but as an atmosphere.
Various shades of green overlap in generous fields of color and gestural strokes. Turquoise, burgundy, red, and individual yellow accents break up the green dominance and create tension. The red, in particular, as the complementary color, intensifies the vibrancy and luminosity of the green.
Originally conceived in softer mint tones, the… work intuitively evolved during the painting process into a deeper and more expressive world of color. VERDE follows this inherent dynamic of color, creating a pictorial space that is vibrant, powerful, and atmospheric all at once.
