This painting was inspired by a quiet winter walk through a forest just after fresh snowfall. Everything was still—muted, almost suspended in time—yet full of subtle life. What caught my attention most was not the trees themselves, but the light.
Low winter sunlight filtered gently through the branches, creating long, cool shadows that stretched across the snow like soft brushstrokes. The contrast between the cold blues of the shadows and the warm… glow in the distance felt almost symbolic—like a balance between silence and hope.
Rather than capturing every detail, I chose to focus on the feeling of the moment. The loose watercolor technique allowed the forms to remain fluid and slightly abstract, much like memory itself. Some edges dissolve, colors blend, and shapes emerge naturally—just as they do when you recall a place rather than observe it.
Agnieszka Ryba is a painter with a background in art school and deep involvement in artistic groups, specializing in watercolor as her primary medium. Her technique emphasizes realistic depiction, masterful planning, and a harmonious flow of vibrant colors directly on paper, celebrating the transparency and unpredictability of watercolor. Focusing on portraits, human forms, and everyday scenes, she conveys wonder and discovery, inspiring viewers to notice hidden beauty in ordinary life.
