About this artwork
This series is devoted to what the artist could call fragments of memories or imprinted portraits. He tries to capture snapshots, to freeze movements, attitudes, expressions but also to stop the marks of time left on a face. the marks of time which leave its traces of life left like so many memorial messages. In this series the artist tries to take back and find the essence, the origins, the very foundations of life. The portraits called counterprints…
or portrait prints, open a passage from one state to another. The face is the reflection of the passing time and which irrevocably reminds us of the reality of an ephemeral and fatal beauty.

« Before starting to paint, the canvas is already full and I can only think by images. The confrontation with the raw canvas then involves the need to eliminate any apparent ease. »
Alain Cabot is an experienced artist from France whose works have been featured in exhibitions internationally. Working in mixed media, Cabot explores the concept of hybridization in his paintings, combining collage, paper, paints, and other raw materials glued onto the canvas. This concept transfers to his subject matter as well, as he superimposes an imaginary world onto reality, giving each work an unresolved opposition.
