About this artwork
In working on my series Plant Abstractions I wanted to start from elements of the plant world to arrive at forms which, viewed from a distance or in the whole of the composition, become abstract. Climbing or creeping plants, ivy, weeds, brambles, quackgrass, dandelion, thistle and field bindweed insidiously invade the space, gently or aggressively, with creases, bumps, interlacings, joinings, cracks, and make the painted figures slide towards the…
abstract.

« Before starting to paint, the canvas is already full and I can only think by images. The confrontation with the raw canvas then involves the need to eliminate any apparent ease. »
Alain Cabot is an experienced artist from France whose works have been featured in exhibitions internationally. Working in mixed media, Cabot explores the concept of hybridization in his paintings, combining collage, paper, paints, and other raw materials glued onto the canvas. This concept transfers to his subject matter as well, as he superimposes an imaginary world onto reality, giving each work an unresolved opposition.
