About this artwork
Alanna’s particular interest in tropical plants formed during lockdown when we were unable to travel and there was a longing for an escape. Through a combination of memories, collected imagery and plant studies she evolved vibrant, nostalgic scenarios. These works have since progressed through continual experiment resulting in endless conclusions and varied palettes.
Alanna is a colourist and her palettes are well considered before beginning a… piece, unlike her compositions which are loosely planned and subject to spontaneity throughout. Alanna applies the paint intuitively; each mark is a risky and permanent decision. She celebrates the luscious thick texture of paint, emphasising the brush-marks using a layering technique.
The frame is made of bare wood (artists frame, see pictures)

Alanna Eakin is a young talent from the United Kingdom whose paintings have been featured in art fairs and exhibitions nationally. Eakin began painting from a young age and defined her current style in abstract acrylic works on canvas inspired by nature, textures, and colors. Using soft color palettes of purples and blues, Eakin builds up layers in gestural brushstrokes that create a sense of calm and serenity.
