« "Women's mental health is a subject that is deeply personal to me. I'm proud of the work I create because it reflects these issues, helping us to better understand each other and ourselves." »
Alayna Coverly is an award-winning American painter who has exhibited extensively throughout the United States. Open about living with depression, her works deal with concepts of vulnerability as strength and absence as a presence. Through veiling figures in cloth, Coverly creates a weighted presence that can stand both alone and apart in their surroundings. All of her paintings are created using oil, where she first blocks a pattern before producing shadow and texture using a thinning medium.
