About this artwork
Abrazo de Guerra was born from the dialogue I have with two masters I deeply admire: the contained violence of Picasso's Guernica—that work that screams what words cannot—and the monumental embrace of González Camarena, the Mexican who turned human contact into a symbol of identity and resistance.
I wanted to make those two worlds collide on the canvas. Picasso's Cubist fragments coexist here with the academic figure I learned to construct over… decades. The result is a visual paradox: chaos and tenderness at the same time, steel and skin, destruction and encounter.

Alejandro Reyna is a Mexican painter and muralist trained at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
