About this artwork
"THE DIVINITIES OF PIXELS" is the series with which Alessandro Lobino, since 2020, has been critically resisting the standardization of Full HD visuals. The artist chooses the anachronism of the three-dimensional resin pixel to perform a "biopsy" of the art icon.
The pixel is not a limit, but a tool for a "conceptual zoom" that forces the viewer to focus on the minimal units of meaning, revealing the intimate structure of the "Divinity".
Resin… acts as an agent of "digital fossilization": in an ephemeral world, it freezes time, transforming the volatile pixel into a solid artifact that confers permanence on identity.
In this tribute to Marina Abramović, the investigation is at its most intense. The artist not only portrays the face, but also crystallizes the "gestures" of the "Balkan Baroque" performance. Lobino incorporates material elements reminiscent of "shattered bones" into the resin, transforming the portrait into a conceptual reliquary.
Alessandro Lobino, a painter and sculptor trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari, favors independent material exploration, inspired by the intersection of diverse disciplines and continuous experimentation. He employs mixed techniques, conceptual core sampling, and concretizations that layer materials to create true "contemporary fossilizations." His style alternates pixelation, glossy surfaces, and chaotic traces, creating a tension between memory and the present. His works convey a profound restlessness: they invite us to delve beneath the surface to question truth, time, and the manipulation of reality.
