This work is a fascinating exercise in visual decomposition that plays with the boundaries between abstraction and figuration. Through a rigorous grid of small painted wooden discs, a female face emerges that… is only visible when looking away, recalling the pointillism technique in a contemporary, almost pixelated way.
The use of neutral, woody tones creates a warm, organic texture, interrupted by touches of red for the lips and blue for the eyes. The lips, vivid and warm, become the emotional focus of the work, creating an elegant contrast with the neutral tones of the rest of the face.
It is a painting that "changes" based on the viewer's distance, transforming a series of isolated objects into a coherent and expressive portrait.

Alessio Mazzarulli transforms everyday materials into a reflection on time and perception.
After his debut in clay modeling, he transferred his three-dimensional sensitivity to material painting, where relief and tactility become central.
He uses fragments of recycled paper, rescuing traces of everyday life from oblivion, and with acrylics and resins he “freezes” time in deliberately distorted images, composed of fragmentary elements that invite an overall vision.
In the “Dot Art” series, he uses small wooden discs to explore the voids of memory: the spaces between the elements evoke what is lost and push the observer to reconstruct the image, creating a dialogue between reality and perception in which time is experienced through erosion and visual recomposition.
