About this artwork
This work aims to tell the story of the continuous present, the "Triskelis", the Continuous Infinite Present.
In the painting we see two female figures lying opposite each other, holding hands; they are the Present (under the soap bubble, which is ephemeral as such) and the Past to which the present remains "tied".
Above them is a figure hovering in the shadows; it is the Future, unknown to all, and therefore dark. Between the three of them (who… form a triangle, a Triskelis), a star appears, symbolizing the light of future hope.
In this work, I wanted to capture the infinite connection between body and spirit, between dream and reality, using symbolism to express the eternal present. The nude figures represent human vulnerability, while the cosmic sky evokes the universal energy that envelops us. This work exudes a contemplative and enveloping energy, ideal for those who wish to bring a profound reflection of existence into their home.
Alessio Papa, a painter and visual artist born in Viterbo and educated at the art high school and the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, primarily uses painting to create visionary works. His painting techniques blend Renaissance Mannerism, 19th-century symbolism, and contemporary influences, creating powerful female figures with a powerful metaphorical charge. In his works, he transports the viewer to dreamlike and spiritual worlds, evoking profound emotions, stimulating introspection and a sense of wonder at life and the beauty of the human spirit.
