About this artwork
This work reflects the artist's yearning or nostalgia for the sea - hence the title. It captures something of the drama, expansiveness and soothing serenity of the ocean. It brings the restorative energy of its natural inspiration into the home - inviting the viewer to loose - or find - themselves for a few moments.
It is loosely and expressively painted using palette knives, spatulas and large brushes. Thick paint is contrasted with thin runny… paint. It is painted on gessoed, artist quality paper (120gm). The size given is conservative, in other words it could be made a bit smaller or bigger, if the position requires it.
The work is on paper and unframed and will be shipped in a tube. This allows you, the buyer to choose exactly the mounting and frame you wish, as well as getting the work for a lower sum than work on stretched canvas. You also save a lot on the shipping.
The work is signed on the back (or front if preferred) and comes with a certificate of authencity.

« My works are reduced inner landscapes that invite the viewer to interpret the mood or atmosphere, whether calm, meditative, melancholy, playful, or joyous. »
Alethea Eriksson is a South African–Swiss artist based in Baden, Switzerland. She creates nature-inspired abstract paintings that bring calm, spaciousness, and quiet presence into contemporary interiors. Through layered abstraction inspired by nature, light, weather, and inner landscapes, Eriksson creates paintings that invite stillness and reflection.
She describes her works — inner landscapes or “soulscapes”—as a form of visual poetry, expressing the sense of renewal and wellbeing she experiences in nature.
Inspired by masters such as Monet and Cézanne, alongside Abstract Expressionists like Joan Mitchell and Cy Twombly, Eriksson creates compositions that invite the viewer to feel moved, uplifted, and immersed in a contemplative emotional space. "
Alethea Eriksson is a member of the Swiss Association of Women Artists. Her lyrical expressionist paintings have been presented in both solo and group exhibitions across Switzerland, as well as at art fairs in Britain and Germany.
