About this artwork
Avon and Pomona actually originally started as twin pieces. I worked on them together side by side - using many of the same colors. I wanted them to be companion pieces but did end up separating them during the final stages and last few layers. Avon was more cooler in tone and utilized a lot more greens and magentas. My brushwork is a little more organic here and the contrast between the geometric and organic was meant to create more interest and…

Art has always been an escape from reality for Alex Watson. Vital for his well-being. Through the act of painting, he transforms negative energies into something meaningful and hopes to inspire others to do so as well. Watson primarily works with acrylics and uses a variety of mixed media tools for mark-making. His gestural strokes are organic in form, taking on geometric and angular shapes through many layers.
