"Baikal" remained focused on the nautical nature of the series but has a more complex composition and incorporated more refined brushwork. Despite the more detailed approach, there is still an expressiveness and a gestural quality to the brushwork to prevent the painting from feeling overworked.

Art has always been an escape from reality for Alex Watson. Vital for his well-being. Through the act of painting, he transforms negative energies into something meaningful and hopes to inspire others to do so as well. Watson primarily works with acrylics and uses a variety of mixed media tools for mark-making. His gestural strokes are organic in form, taking on geometric and angular shapes through many layers.
